My boyfriend won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize!
::: third sitting prez to nab the nod 😉 SWEET!:::

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said. “His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”

“I think it is extraordinary,” 2004 NPP winner Wangari Muta Maathai said. “It will be even greater inspiration for the world. He has shown how we can probably come together, work together in a cooperative way.”

Even you ‘other siders’ have to cop to the fact that this is a good thing.
Oh shuddit. It is.
It’s a good thing when any American wins the NPP – especially when that American is the president.
Stop the negative blah blah. It is.
::: See world! We’re not ALL hateful warmongers!!! :::

Congrats O’Baby!

Had a response to that comment but I won’t go there.
The view from the high road is too nice.

  • 3. curoius  |  October 10, 2009 at 12:22 am

left speechless i see. guess you don’t have a clue why he won it either.

    Hmmmm…could it be this:

3/18/8 – Obama had the balls to discuss race relations in a world that views America as Bigot Central? He had world-wide press coverage on that.

7/24/8 – Obama moves thousands of Berlin citizens to gather and hear him discuss American leadership and what it can do for the world. Who wants to hear about American leadership? We’re unapologetic assholes. Well, Obama resold them on us. The assholes.

11/4/8 – Obama elected. World stunned…because we (again) are seen around the world as bigot central. He was the catalyst for us in America rising above our tarnished reputation. That matters because we’re huge and powerful as a nation with a lot of pull.

So, he takes office and then..

    1/22/9 – Appoints a Special Envoy for Mid-East peace

1/22/9 – Orders the closing of Guantanamo Bay (which may not happen on schedule, but still it told the world, “Now, we will live up to our ideals.”

1/22/9 – Orders a comprehensive review of detention policies and the world sees we will no longer hold people indefinitely without charges. (Again America is given the opportunity to appear as if she rises to the level of her own ideals.)

1/22/9 – Prohibits the use of torture (and the torture business really sullied us). Its prohibition goes a long way in promoting future diplomatic relations.

1/22/9 – Signs an executive order to close CIA secret prisons (another blot on America’s reputation).

Now, I guess for folks that don’t see our reputation as bigots as a problem and didn’t mind one bit that we tortured and circumvented our own laws cuz we were pussies (too scared to do things legally) won’t see Obama’s accomplishments as much. But those folks likely don’t give a rip about peace anyway.

his name was submitted on feb, 1. he did nothing before and almost nothing since. oh, i forgot. hope? lol

every pres since nixon has appointed a special envoy to the middle east

    guantanamo – necessary evil

    detention ploicies – it’s war

torture – we have done it for over 200 yrs and it has kept us relatively safe

cia prisons – yes, closing them was a blot on america’s rep. do you know any cia op’s? baddest asses in the world. they keep us free

Si vis pacem, para bellum – i don’t really understand spanish

    torture’s kept us relatively safe?
Tell that to the 911 widows and widowers.

  • 8. writechic  |  October 11, 2009 at 12:49 am

Everything I listed was before February 1st. Duh. The Euro trash do have internets and googles, too, you know.

It’s not Obama’s fault the GOP turned into the party of whiny pussies, mad inquisitors for Jesus, and KKK-lite.

Now, I reckon for some that don’t pay no mind to racism and are shit fer brains on notions of torture will refuse to acknowledge Obama’s accomplishments as much.

I’m sure if you check your notes from when you watched our President, you’ll be reminded he said, “Let me be clear: I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.”

Look at him being all selfless and shit. Doncha just love that. Wow.

It’s much better for America to have president who is not retarded and who doesn’t listen to Dick. Not being retarded fosters respect….and omg, it fosters HONOR, like a Nobel Peace Prize.

Remember when Republicans were cool? Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower. They’re all dead now. Bummer.

  • 9. curoius  |  October 11, 2009 at 2:26 am

lmao… rather have a president who listened to dick than one who listens to bill ayres and jerry wright. no no no, GD america? you stupid ass liberals will buy anything hollywood sells you.

and… is it too late to vote for the white guy? well is it? answer me damn it.

  • 10. lyle  |  October 11, 2009 at 3:24 pm

yes, it’s too late. Get OVER it!

  • 15. noni  |  October 13, 2009 at 12:00 am

You know what’s interesting here … you comment with a video of a sistah acting the fool to illustrate what? That people of color have no sense?

Well, if we’re going to generalize … can’t wait to see the video of YOU illustrating the same thing about while folks because you have got to be the biggest piece of white trash jackass I’ve seen since Tom Metzger and his band of fools.

If it walks like a racist and talks like a racist – guess what!
